Patagonia, Argentina – The land of the Hooded Grebe
This album documents my birding tours across Argentine Patagonia—a land of extreme climates, vast steppes, and glacial lakes framed by the Andes. These remote landscapes, shaped by relentless winds and seasonal contrasts, host a unique and fragile birdlife.
Among the most remarkable species featured here is the Hooded Grebe (Podiceps gallardoi), an iconic and critically endangered bird endemic to this region and one of my favourite species worldwide. Often referred to as one of the "holy grail" by birdwatchers, its elusive nature and specialized habitat requirements make each sighting a rare privilege.
