Bhutan – Birds of the Eastern Himalayas
Bhutan, nestled in the Eastern Himalayas, remains one of the last strongholds of largely untouched montane forest. With altitudes ranging from subtropical valleys to alpine ridges, the country spans an exceptional range of ecosystems within a compact area, making it a biodiversity hotspot for Himalayan birdlife.
During this trip, I explored remote forested slopes, river valleys, and high passes, encountering species both iconic and elusive. From vivid Himalayan monals and satyr tragopans to mixed flocks of laughingthrushes and yuhinas, the diversity and density of birds were remarkable.
