Morocco – Birds of the Western Palearctic Edge
Located at the crossroads of Europe and Africa, Morocco marks the southwestern edge of the Western Palearctic — and holds a remarkable diversity of habitats and species. From the vast arid expanses of the Sahara to the rugged High Atlas Mountains, this country offers a wide range of birdlife shaped by geography and climate.
During this trip, I encountered many emblematic species of the region: desert specialists, montane endemics, and a mix of Palearctic and Afrotropical influences. The contrasts in landscape — and in the bird communities they host — made Morocco a particularly rewarding destination for both observation and photography.
