Switzerland – Birds from Home
Switzerland is where I grew up and where I live — a landscape I know well, yet one that continues to offer new birding experiences throughout the seasons. From alpine peaks to lowland lakes, forests, and wetlands, the country's diverse habitats support an equally exciting birdlife.
Though relatively small, Switzerland lies at the heart of Europe’s migratory crossroads, making it an excellent place to observe both breeding species and passage migrants. Whether it’s a wallcreeper clinging to a cliff face, a flock of wintering waterfowl, or a singing wood warbler in the nearby forest, there’s always something to discover — close to home.
This gallery brings together birds from my region, captured over time in the landscapes I’m familiar with.
