Mongolia – Birds Across Vast Horizons

Mongolia is one of my favorite countries — a land of immense, dramatic landscapes where nature still feels truly wild. From endless steppes and remote lakes to the Altai Mountains and the Gobi Desert, each region hosts its own unique bird specialties, shaped by isolation, harsh climates, and vast open space.

During my two visits (once in autumn, once in spring), I experienced some of the most unforgettable bird migration moments of my life, alongside iconic breeding specialties of the northern hemisphere — all set against some of the most striking landscapes imaginable. The sheer sense of space, and the solitude shared with friends, made every sighting memorable, whether it was a Snow Leopard in the distance or a fall of migrants scattered across the endless steppe.

These images capture just a fraction of what Mongolia has to offer, and I already can’t wait to return.
